Announcement (30/12/09)

New scans for Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International are available.

A bunch of new scans from Japanese Dengeki magazine have been uploaded by RPG Land.

The above shown scan is the one of greatest interest, it features Stephen D. Kenny alongside Eleyna Farrence, Crowe F. Almedio & Welch Vineyard.

Unfortunately this only generates speculation, perhaps this means that Stephen is the missing 13th character, and this page is dedicated to NPC's only. But surely Square-Enix & tri-Ace are not leaving one spot open on the official site just for an NPC, that would just be a rude tease. Unless another slot or two will pop up close to the release date...?

We will certainly update when more information on what is becoming a bit of a mystery is available, in the meantime feel free to discuss your theories in the Star Ocean: The Last Hope forum.

Announcement (30/12/09)

The Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity) official site continues to generate something different, and have now released a new Today's style Blog Part section.

Every day it will release a new image up until the Japanese release date the 28th of Jan 09. Only time will tell but it will likely feature the main characters, Reanbell (who we might have to start calling Leanne - that will probably be her English name), Vashyron & Zephyr in different costumes.

You can also view them as they arrive here. There we have the script running which automatically shows the days costume, and over time we'll collect them and have them all available here for viewing and download as well.

Announcement (25/12/09)

The official site for Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International has been updated.

The character section has been updated, the stand out new feature character is Irene Farrence, whom was previously known as Eleyna Farrence in the original Xbox 360 version.

Other original characters including Sarah, Crowe & Welch have also been added, leaving just one spot remaining. The Xbox 360 version may suggest that it could be Stephen D. Kenny, although prior trailers have featured Giotto Vandione so it may also be him. Unless there is another surprise around the corner...only time will tell.

Also, and however the Spec section of the site has been updated, featuring the Japanese box art for the game, it features all 9 playable characters from the original, with no other characters showing.

Announcement (25/12/09)

The Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity) official site has been updated again.

The Christmas look is gone, but now perhaps the final wallpaper/calendar addition has been made. This time it's a 2010 calender, highlighting the 28th of Jan, the Japanese release date for the game. You can view all of the available wallpapers and download them on the official site, or here

Also, the character section has had another update, a new character called Peter is featured, he looks like a colorful character, wearing a championship belt and has a dog at his side. An avatar for him has been added to our avatar section as well.

Announcement (23/12/09)

Star Ocean Universe would like to wish all of our members and guests a safe and Merry Christmas, and a great new year.

Should you have visited the site over the last week you will have noticed a temporary banner, and perhaps some snow falling around the site, these will remain until the end of December.

We have also added 8 new avatars relating to the artworks in Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International. A few of which are previewed above.

The 8 characters featured are the ones currently showing on the official site, as more characters are added we will continue to complete the set in the near future.

During the trailer it points out a few of the PS3 exclusive features, such as:

  • Japanese & English Audio

  • Six selectable text languages

  • Again however we are no closer to knowing whether there is a new playable character, as there is no unexpected appearance in any of the battle scenes shown.

    Announcement (17/12/09)

A new video for Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity) has just been released.

This particular video features a visit to a "Battle Challenge" area, which looks very similar to battle arena's in the Star Ocean titles. It then follows with a fascinating gun play battle for a little over 2 minutes, featuring a number of the techniques you can use in battle and collecting a bunch of items along the way.

What Resonance of Fate offers keeps looking more and more appealing, it looks like a must have RPG in 2010.

    Announcement (16/12/09)

A new trailer for Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International has been released.

During the trailer both Eleyna Farrance & Giotto Vandione feature in it, which doesn't exactly help speculate on the 13th character...

No new characters feature in the battle scenes shown, although the character icons during battle do alternate between the 2D anime style portraits, and 3D renders. At least we can see confirmation that they can be changed.

    Announcement (15/12/09)

The North American boxart has been released for Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity).

The boxart shown is quite a bit different to the Japanese version, whether it's better or not is up to you to decide, the characters are certainly more a feature this time around as opposed to the distant shot featured on the Japanese cover.

Also the official site has another small update in the Battle section. There is now more details on Resonance Attack & Invisible Action, with a small video for either the PS3 & Xbox 360 version.

Unlike any of the previous box art covers for the game it features anime style characters for Edge & Reimi, whether it's a good thing or not if you to you.

Feel free to compare this with the previous boxart for the game and make up your own mind

    Announcement (13/12/09)

Square Enix Europe have also hinted to 'additional characters' for Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International.

The above image shown is an extract from a newsletter released by Square Enix Europe, stating there will be an improved battle system, overhauled menus, additional characters and the option to listen to English or Japanese voices.

The news is not entirely new, but further fuels speculation of new playable characters, surely Square Enix wouldn't state 'new characters' if you can't play any of them, would they?

One thing seems certain, as the Feb 2010 release edges closer as should concrete information on who these 'new characters' really are, and if they are playable. We'll update again when more information presents itself.

    Announcement (11/12/09)

The Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity) official site's blog has been updated.

Perhaps SEGA & tri-Ace are showing a bit of Christmas spirit, as of the 22nd of December you will be able to download a playable demo via Japanese servers if you have either PlayStation Network or are an Xbox Live Gold member.

It will feature a newcomber mode, teaching some basics of the game and the gun based battles. Should you complete it a few times you'll also unlock a few of the alternate constumes for the characters in the game as well.

Let's hope before the English releases we can get easier access to such a demo as well, with it's English voice acting etc. 2010 looks like a big year for RPG's, with two tri-Ace titles on the way and many more from other developers.

    Announcement (5/12/09)

Square Enix have released more information about Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International.

Firstly, shown above is one of many new scans released by Famitsu, uploaded by RPG Land. But who is that standing on the left? None other then Eleyna Farrence, this potentially means she is the 13th character, it doesn't however give an indication as to whether she is playable or not.

    Screenshot from PS3 version

    Screenshot from Xbox 360 version

Secondly, a bunch of new screenshots have appeared, nothing to indicate a new playable character or something we haven't really seen before. With one exception, compare the two above images and it would appear we have even more options. You can view the anime portraits in the PS3 version, while other screenshots [ Example ] show regular portraits.

Previously Star Ocean: The Last Hope: International announced the option to select English or Japanese voice overs, now it appears you can select the character portraits from either version as well.

A new video has been released for Resonance of Fate. The latest features solely on the costume change functions throughout the game.

The movie features some of what we already know, but in more detail. You can change ones headwear, dress attire, even to minor details such as ones eye color, both don't need to be the same either.

After a sequence of dress rehearsal the movie moves onto a battle and story scene, with the characters in their new look. Showing that such changes are interactive with every aspect of the game. If you love customisation, then this is sure to be a treat!
